NATIONWIDE ‘DUMSOR’ EXPECTED ON JULY 13 – Energy Minister Announces
John Abdulai Jinapor, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, has announced that the country will experience a Nationwide power outage on July 13.
He claims that facilities going into maintenance will be the cause of the brief outage in the nation’s power supply.
He said that as part of the company’s efforts to boost gas output to 270 mm scarf, ENI, the gas suppliers, would shut off their valves for rehabilitation.
John Jinapor stated, “This Sunday, ENI will turn off their valves temporarily to increase gas production to about 270 MM Scarf. It means that we are stabilising the energy sector”.
“Because the plant will be turned off for a short period within the day for maintenance works, we are likely to experience some interruption of power. It is for a good purpose”, he added.
He also disclosed that the government will not operate the plant using liquid fuels, per the recommendation of technical experts.
“Based on the advice from engineers, I have directed that we do not attempt to run those plants on liquid fuel for that short period,” he stated.
Mr. Jinapor added, “It involves changing nozzles, it involves a lot of work, and so if we are going off for about for to six hours, you don’t risk it transitioning to liquid fuel only to come back to gas.”
John Jinapor also promised to make every effort to lessen the negative effects of the closure.
