BURIAL OF DR MURTALA MOHAMMED SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE AT 10AM IN TAMALE POSTPONED

The burial of Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, which was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow, has been postponed indefinitely.

A family spokesperson confirmed that a new date will be announced in due course. The postponement follows the tragic helicopter crash that claimed his life, along with seven others, on Wednesday.

Further details regarding the burial arrangements will be communicated as plans are finalised.

A tragic helicopter crash occurred in Ghana on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, and Dr. Murtala Mohammed was one of the people on board the helicopter.

The bodies of the five passengers and three crew members aboard the GAF Z9 Helicopter have been successfully received at the Air Force Base in Accra and are currently being transported to the 37 Military Hospital Morgue for the official commencement of a three-day mourning period.
