Mohammed Kudus requests to sit out training amid Tottenham, Chelsea interest
West Ham United have confirmed that Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus asked not to take part in full pre-season training as transfer talks intensify, with Tottenham and Chelsea vying for his signature.
Kudus was present at Rush Green on the first day of pre-season, but only participated in gym work and light jogging. His absence from on-field training raised questions, prompting the club to clarify the situation.
A senior spokesman told Hammers News that it was Kudus himself who made the decision: “I think he doesn’t want to train at the moment. Things will be resolved this week.”
This development comes amid growing speculation over a potential move to Spurs, with Chelsea also circling. West Ham are holding out for over £60 million, but Kudus’ preference for Tottenham has weakened their negotiating position.
Kudus’ stance may frustrate fans, but from a business point of view, avoiding injury is a calculated move, as West Ham plan a squad rebuild under new manager Graham Potter. The club is desperate to generate funds, and Kudus remains their most valuable asset.
With both London rivals in pursuit, a resolution is expected soon.
