BLACK STARS OFFERED $5,000 WINNING BONUS FOR CHAD, MALI CLASHES
Sports Minister Kofi Adams confirms incentive package; Coach Otto Addo to receive $10,000 for leadership role.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams has confirmed that each Black Stars player will receive a $5,000 winning bonus for Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali this week.
The announcement, made during a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, September 2, just hours before the team’s departure to N’Djamena, is designed to motivate the squad to maintain their dominant form in Group I.
Head coach Otto Addo will receive double the players’ package, taking home $10,000 in recognition of his leadership role, the Minister stated.
The incentive comes as Ghana sits comfortably atop Group I with 15 points from six matches, having secured five victories with only one defeat. A strong performance in these upcoming matches would significantly enhance Ghana’s chances of securing a fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.
Otto Addo’s side is scheduled to train in Chad on Wednesday before facing the hosts at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4. The team will then return to Accra to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
The Black Stars will conclude their qualifying campaign in October with matches against Central African Republic and Comoros.
