African leaders don’t use buses for their tours because of bad roads – Obiri Boahen

Nana Obiri Boahen, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims that if it weren’t for Africa’s poor roads, its leaders would have followed the examples of their Western counterparts.

Because of the poor infrastructure, he says, African leaders must utilize gas-guzzling SUVs at the cost of their citizens.

This was Nana Obiri Boahen’s response to the fact that many of the leaders from developing countries had to use buses to attend the burial of Queen Elizabeth II.

Adding that “So if someone lives at Amasaman and works at Parliament house you see the time involved? So sometimes we must be fair to our leaders. What we have to do is to work at ensuring that we have accessible roads and we can emulate some of these things”.
