ALBAN SUMANA BAGBIN ELECTED SPEAKER OF 9TH PARLIAMENT

Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin has been elected as the Speaker of Ghana’s 9th Parliament.

The proposal to appoint him as the speaker was introduced by the Majority Leader of Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson, PhD.

The minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, seconded the motion, voicing concerns regarding the president-elect’s choice to require his party’s leadership in Parliament to endorse Alban Bagbin.

This continued with a vote from the assembly, which unanimously consented that Alban Bagbin should become Speaker.
